Millet Cakes Recipe | Mistake Cakes | Gluten-Free
Sometimes things can go wrong in the kitchen...Rather than ditching good food, ditch the recipe and try something else.
Unless it has been burned to a scrump, which then you should add it to your compost...Never waste good food when things go wrong. Simply look for another way to use it.
Most under-cooked or over-cooked foods can be frozen and added to soup over time.
Being that I'm bold in the kitchen, I decided to go ahead and cook millet for the first time without any instructions...I ended up with a huge amount of gluey yet under-cooked millet mang...uhoh
Looking at the texture, which resembled mashed potatoes, I tried making cakes and they worked out fantastically!
Here's my recipe for Millet "Mistake" Cakes
(Makes 6)
2 1/2 Cups of Organic Millet Mang
(Okay... you can just use correctly cooked millet if you like
because it takes a master to cook my millet mang -teehee)
1/2 small organic onion & 1 clove of garlic (roughly minced)
1 large organic egg
1 tbs organic dried oregano
2tbs organic everything spice or any spices you like
1 tsp celtic salt
Organic pepper
2 tbs olive oil (for frying)
Mash all ingredients together and form into cakes 1/2" thick 3-4" round. Fry for 5 minutes each side on medium heat until a dark golden brown. Serve with fresh organic arugula and organic tomatoes.
Enjoy!
