Spooky Ingredients In Halloween Treats | Check Out These Safer GMO-free Treats

There's something spookier than Halloween...
It's the ingredients in all of those "treats".

Does feeding the kiddies chocolates, candy & chips laced with high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors & flavorings and GMO's... give you the willies? The dangers lurking in your kids Halloween treats are almost as scary as razor blades in apples.

Top 10 GMO Ingredients in Halloween Candy, Bars & Chips

Sugar (GMO Sugar Beets)
High Fructose Corn Syrup (GMO Corn)
Corn Starch (GMO Corn)
Soy Lecithin (GMO Soy)
Soybean Oil (GMO Soy)
Modified Food Starch (GMO Corn)
Fructose, Dextrose, Glucose (GMO Corn)
Cottonseed Oil (GMO Cotton)
Canola Oil (GMO Canola)
“Other” Ingredients (Isolates, Isoflavones, Food Starch, Vegetable Oil)

Here are some not-so-spooky options for
Halloween treats the kids actually love!

Look for organic options
Many stores carry organic potato chips & candy. YumEarth, GoNaturally, Annies, & Surf Sweets are just a few brands of organic gmo-free treats.

Try organic lunch-style snacks
Fruit leathers are cheap and most stores carry an organic line, organic granola bars like those from Nature's Path, Organic individual oatmeal packets can be a great yummy and healthy breakfast or snack for a kid...Even organic juice boxes are a special treat.

Think outside the sugar
Honestly, is junk food even special to kids anymore?  And with all the allergens and toxins in conventional treats, I've been handing out fun loot bags filled with non-food items for several years.  The kids who came to my house were so excited when I handed out holographic spooky Halloween stickers, pencils, erasers and even mini activity books instead of candy - who don't love stickers?  You can buy huge sheets of them at the dollar store and cut them down to card size sheets with 6 or so stickers per kid.  Small toys (you know the ones like in vending machines),  pencils, glitter pens, tiny note pads...there are loads of small items you can buy in bulk that kids will love and you won't be contributing to any allergy risks, icky bellies or bad health.

It may only be once a year but look at the loads of craps those little ones will be eating!

Have fun, be safe,& go healthier this Halloween!
