DIY Crochet Star Ornament Or Embellishment

Here's a cute little crochet star great for beginners.
Use it as an ornament or embellishment.

The thread I used was the Natural/Gold Royale Classic Metallic Crochet Cotton 162M-226G
For only $1.62 at Stuff4
It can make approximately 16 stars.

Instructions:
Round 1: Start with a magic circle of 5 single crochets (sc).
Round 2: Chain (ch) 3 + ch3 (total of 6 ch), 2double crochet (dc) in the first sc, ch3, repeat for each round...end with 1 dc in the same stitch as the beginning, count up 3 in the first chain of 6 then slip stitch in the 3rd stitch to finish the row.
Round 3: 2sc + ch2 + 2sc over the previous chain then slip stitch between the 2 dc in the previous round...continue for all 5 rounds.
Round 4: ch2, 3dc + ch3 + 3dc in the tip of each point (the previous round ch2), ch2, slip stitch in the previous slip stitch (between the 2dc), repeat for all 5 points.  Cast off.

Enjoy!

  1. I have trouble with the magic circle with string so start this way:

ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with a slip stitch.
