Healthier Ingredient Substitute List

Ever find a great recipe that calls for too many junky ingredients and wish you could make a healthier version?
(Some substitutions are for those with allergies i.e Eggs & Dairy)

Here is my list for replacements of common ingredients:

Baking powder (for baking)
Use aluminum-free baking soda and add a little organic vinegar to the batter.
Bread Crumbs
Replace equally with roughly ground organic rolled oats.
Corn Starch (As thickener)
Replace equally with organic Arrowroot, Tapioca starch or Kudzu Root.
Corn Syrup
Replace equally with raw organic honey.
Chocolate Chip
Organic chocolate bar chopped up.
Cream of tartar
2x with organic apple cider vinegar OR lemon juice.
Cracker Crumb
Grind nuts an/or seeds in a coffee grinder.
Milk
Several options: 
Organic coconut milk OR make your own non-homogenized milk 
OR Mix 2 Tbs tbs of nut or seed butter, a touch of honey 
and a pinch of salt to 1 cup of water and blend (makes 1 cup).
Buttermilk
1 cup organic milk + 1 Tbs vinegar OR organic yogurt
Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/4 cup organic maple syrup + 1 can organic coconut milk 
simmered until condensed to 1/2 then cooled.
Whipped Cream
Heavy organic coconut milk & vanilla whipped together.
Eggs (For baking - rising)
1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 Tbsp organic vinegar and 1 Tbsp filtered water.
Eggs (As a binder)
1 Tbs ground flaxseeds + 1 Tbs water.
Icing Sugar
Organic cane sugar ground in a coffee grinder for 40 seconds.
Jello
1 Tbsp organic gelatin powder dissolved in 
1 cup of boiling organic juice + 1 cup cold juice.
Mayonnaise
Make your own (Regular or Egg-Free) or 
substitute with yogurt or sour cream.
Pasta
Shredded zucchini
Rice
Organic wild rice.
Soy oil or Canola oil
Use organic sunflower, olive or coconut oil.
Shortening
Replace equally with organic unsalted butter or organic coconut oil.
