Spooky Spaghetti Squash | Pumpkin Carving

I've been carving pumpkins for several years, 
the last few years I have only had small squash available. 
 I will be carving another tomorrow and will add it to the blog.

Here is Spooky Spaghetti I carved last year from an organic spaghetti squash.



If you want your carving to last, be sure to cut the bottom out of the pumpkin. Cutting of the stem on the top causes the pumpkin to break down faster and the top can buckle in on your candle. Plus leaving the stem in place looks much better and with the hole at the bottom you can place the candle on a flat surface and put the pumpkin right over top. I like using the flickering LED tea light candles.

I like to draw my own template out on a sheet of paper then simply tape it to the pumpkin then with a toothpick, punch along all the lines, through the pumpkin skin until the pattern is clear.

After your carving is finished, rinse the pumpkin inside and out with cold water, pat it dry with some paper towels then spray it with a little lemon juice and it should last for weeks.
